2/19/2023 0 Comments Dnd warblade handbookDoesn't make you win the game or anything, but it's certainly fun.Īlso, I'd ask your DM if he wouldn't mind lumping all the '+charisma to stat' in one aura (So you take the 'Motivate' aura, and it lets you pick which stat you are motivating) - perhaps for a feat. :P)īut definitely look in there - that gives you a heck of a lot you can do with things, including granting your entire party bonus attacks over movement and the like. (The reason I say this is a dangerous road to tread is because it encourages you to take bard levels, which is thus not the goal as that road leads to more and more bard levels. It is also generally useful for a marshal, though - does things rather specifically for them. While a dangerous path to tread, if you don't mind stepping briefly into bard, the regalia of the hero would be particularly awesome for a bardshall. Things that boost minor and major auras, for example. The magic item compendium has an array of really neat marshal perks. What I always wondered about marshall (generic boringness aside) is why the major auras are so much worse than the minor ones.Ī 1 lvl dip is great for exemplar as it gives SF free. With marshall3 though you could get motivate int for int/cha to all int skills and motivate dex to get int/dex/cha to dex and int/dex/cha to all dex skills Motivate intelligence gives you cha to int checks, but brains over brawn doesn't let you make str/dex checks as int checks, it merely adds your int mod onto them also (which is better, obviously) it adds your int modifier to all str and dex checks, not your cha modifier. The whole book that comes out of is a very limited power book.I believe you are mistaken as to how brains over brawn works. Then you'll get your Charisma bonus to Intelligence, Strength, and Dexterity.īut I can't imagine doing anything but dipping a level of Marshall. High Charisma, get the minor marshall aura that grants Charisma bonus to intelligence, then go 3 levels of Factotum to get Brains over Brawn. A Marshal dip is great for say, getting a succubus character to be omnipotent in social encounters (and Intimidate lockdown and Iaijutsu Focus use), but I would honestly not even consider a 1-level dip unless I was pumping my Charisma Bonus to be +5 at the minimum. Overall the Bard, Crusader and Warblade all do the Marshal's job better and the Bard in particular seems to do so in every way that matters. Conceivably you could do something like learn all of the save-boosting auras and strategically turn on the right one depending on what you are facing in a battle, but the level investment for that is steep considering that it doesn't really give you anything else to do. Since you may only have one Minor Aura active, it's best to pump Initiative normally and then switch to something else when your turn comes around in a fight. 1 or 3 levels should get you the Minor Auras you want. It's all about the "Minor" Aura class feature. I can tell you right now that the class is pretty much exclusively for massively-Charisma focused builds that want to get Charisma to everything, such as getting Charisma twice to Cha-based skills, to your party's initiative, and other stuff. Just as an aside: Don't make the mistake of assuming that this aura list extension encompasses the Dragon Shaman's auras from PHII, because it doesn't. Notable additions are the Senses aura for Initiative, Spot and Listen, and the Presence Aura to boost your social skills again. If you're going for the full 3 levels then you'll have a Major Aura, so you might as well pick something nice to get that +1 to. The Major Aura feature gets called out as being equivalent to Dragonic Auras for the purposes of everything in the book, the new auras listed on p.87. The only resource I can think of that directly influences a marshal's class features is Dragon Magic. A quick Google search found nothing. It's because 'nothing' pretty well describes the class as a whole. I was interested in making a marshal build and was wondering if there was a handbook.
